5 Tips for Good Infant Dental Hygiene

Good and healthy oral health is important for everyone. Kids or adults, it is needed for all and to maintain overall good health. Talking about kids, especially infants, maintaining their oral hygiene is crucial and not as easy as you think. Certain things need to be taken into consideration and remembered while doing so.

These are the 5 tips which you should follow to take good care of your baby’s mouth and teeth. Start practising these and see the wonder it has for their lifetime.

1. Be an early bird:
Begin with purchasing a toothbrush for infants and when they start teething, start putting it in your baby’s mouth. Always massage their gums gently as it will make them feel good. Leave it in their mouth and allow them to get used to it.

2. Giant leaps require small steps:
Infants can never put the toothbrush in their mouth for long. Do not expect them to do as you expect. Start it from a few seconds initially and gradually increasing the time. Once they get accustomed to it, they’ll hold it for long and get used to it.

3. Follow it :
Oral and dental hygiene is not to be done occasionally. Include it in your daily routine and make it a habit rather than a work.

4.Doctors give  you a better opinion:
Get an appointment with a dentist and obtain an opinion on your child’s dental health. When they have sufficient teeth, get them to a doctor, going to a kids specialist would be great, and know about their oral and dental health. It will also get your baby familiar with certain things and wouldn’t save a lot on your efforts for future dentist visits.

5. It should be your priority:
Don’t take it as a fun process, rather, make the process fun. Take it seriously and as a priority for best results.
